A Place to Knit

Renowned knitting teacher and designer Elizabeth Zimmerman once said, "Properly practiced, knitting soothes the troubled spirit, and it doesn't hurt the untroubled spirit, either." Surely designating a space in the home for the sole purpose of knitting lifts the spirit even further, regardless of its current state.

For the table runner, I followed Frankie Brown's "Curvy Bookmarks" pattern, using size US 3 needles and Isaac Mizrahi Craft Isaac's Colorways Merino Blend yarn in the color Golden Pear.

For the tablecloth, I heavily modified Elizabeth Zimmerman's "Pi Shawl (July)" pattern, using size US 7 knitting needles and South West Trading Company Oasis yarn in the color Cranberry.

Sadly, I don't remember which size knitting needles and which yarn brand I used to make the dress and headband, but I do recall that for the dress, I modified Elaine Baker's "Itty Bitty Baby Doll Wardrobe" pattern, and for the headband, I created my own simple design using 2x2 rib.

The following photo features bits of leftover yarn wound into tiny balls and stabbed with toothpicks, the perfect miniature DPNs (double-pointed needles).

I absolutely adore Teresa Goodridge's book I Love Knitting Stickers. Below are 3 of the 26 stickers included in the book.

A truly satisfying knitting experience would be incomplete without a sleeping kitty and matching refreshments, purchased from Amazon and Hobby Lobby, respectively.

Happy knitting!
